Story Telling Tent
@City Heights Farmers Market
Where kids have access to books, we inspire a love for them!
Malikah is a young girl who comes to the Story Tent almost every Saturday. She has been coming since we first started in the summer of 2011. At first she hated reading. Her parents urged her to stay, but she preferred to explore the market and play athletic games.
But Malikah slowly started spending more and more time at the Tent. Before you knew it she was sitting long enough to hear an entire story and finding her own favorite books.
Malikah still has a hard time sitting for too long, but she is now more comfortable reading out loud and even recommends books to new visitors.
This is one of the best parts of the Story Tent. Because many of the kids come back week after week, we get to watch them fall in love with reading and become more confident readers!
WHERE: The Story Tent takes place at the City Heights' Farmers' Market every Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The market is located at 4326 Wightman St. San Diego, CA 92105.
